TSoG at the 3G Expo!

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

Hey folks! I’ve gotten official go-ahead to present Telepath RPG: Servants of God at the 3G Expo and Game Design Challenge going on in downtown Chicago in two weeks.

This free event invites the public to play gender inclusive games produced by women and girl game designers and other leading Chicago game companies. Participants will view the actual prototypes developed by five teams of fifty girls created during the workshops and have a chance to vote on prize-winning designs. One prototype will be chosen to be developed into an actual playable game by Seniors in the Department of Interactive Arts and Media at Columbia College.

I’ll be there on Sunday the 15th with a table and three computers, all of them loaded up with the latest version of TSoG. Come stop by and say hello if you’re in Chicago!

The Top 6 Reasons to Support Indie RPGs

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

This topic has been addressed before by other people, but in light of recent news, I figured I’d compile a list that takes certain, ah, new factors into account.

So let’s say that you have some disposable income, and that you’re trying to decide whether to spend it on big studio games or indie RPGs. Here are the top 6 best reasons why you should spend at least some of it on indie RPGs.

Crypt 2: In progress!

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

Hey guys, a quick update–I’m working on a devious new crypt for you all! Progress is slow, however, as my dad’s been in the hospital the past few weeks, and I’ve been visiting him every day. Still, things are coming along, and I hope to have the thing playable by next week.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Thanksgiving, for those of you outside the United States, is a holiday where Americans get together with their families, give thanks for the many things that are good in their lives, and eat huge meals meant to remind them of the generosity of Native Americans who shared their food with European settlers during a particularly bad winter.

For my part, I’d personally like to thank all of you who’ve shown support for Sinister Design and our games over the years, either by buying copies of Telepath: Psy Arena 2, contributing to the community through the wiki or forums, or simply by offering feedback and compliments. You’re a fine group of fans, and I wouldn’t trade you for anything!

My family is in town to celebrate the holiday with me, so I must stop ignoring them for the time being and go celebrate. Work on Telepath RPG: Servants of God continues next week. In the meantime, feel free to write about the things that you’re thankful for in the comments below!

Telepath RPG Chapter 3 is now Telepath RPG: Servants of God. Some of you may have noticed me quietly changing the name here and there over the past week or two. Hit the jump to read my reasons.

Cancer Fundraiser Album

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

I just found out yesterday that a song I wrote is going to appear on Songs for the Cure ’10, a cancer fundraiser album. You won’t have heard it before, and it won’t be available anywhere else.

Songs for the Cure consists of exclusive songs from independent musicians and game developers. The album comes out sometime next year (sometime around March, I think). I’ll post about it again when I know its release date for sure!

Game Design Interview

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

As I was looking through some of my backup DVDs this morning, I found an interview I did back in December with Dale Rogers, a teacher at Nashville State Community College. Dale wanted to have it to show to his multimedia design class. In the interview, I talk about game design and the Telepath RPG series. I thought some folks here might find it interesting, so I’ve uploaded an mp3 of the interview (40 MB).
