im trying the demo and it's not working??? what's happening???
  • saw
Something happened to me where the dark spriggats just randomly started firing everywhere. Then when I attacked ot, it started firng like normal. Then the next round I do has a dark spriggat. What do you know, the same thing happens. Im pretty sure that the game was glitching on me, because when I restarted, it stopped happening.
  • Derek
hey is the demo gonna expire i just downloaded the demo now and why not a premium content thing you can please your fans and get money even though i wouldn't buy it by premium i mean in game not buy the game
  • Webby
yea it works thanks a lot :D
  • CraigStern
Thanks for letting me know--I just fixed the link. Try it now. :)
  • Webby
I cant download the mac version demo it just says "OOPS! this is not a link" then it tells me what to do then i do that yet it doesn't help me at all (it tells me to contact the owner of the page) and this game is amazing. oh and i had the same mac thing only i liked it at first and still do :D im loving the mac.

so if someone could help me to download the mac version that would be great cause i really want the demo
  • Thomas
It's funny you should say that, because my room mate last year also bought a Mac, and he got frustrated because of the same thing (right and left buttons). But he's gotten used to it, along with all other Mac hotkeys, applications and options that windows doesn't have, and he's really satisfied with it.
  • TheQ
Well I went for a MacbookPro. It's quite a switch, going from Windows to Mac. When I first got it, I had to call a flat mate (I'm living in University Accommodation Halls) to work out how to use the touch pad (it doesn't have right and left buttons), and I really regretted changing over.

Now I say it's the best thing ever. It takes 30 seconds to startup (if anything, quicker) and 4 seconds to shutdown. I've never really been that bothered by graphics, and I find it very hard to tell the difference, so I couldn't comment on that.
  • Thomas
Heh.. well it was my decision to add the artistic look, which costs quite a lot. But the custom computer itself is really powerful. 4 gigs RAM, 1 terrabyte space, 2,6 Mhz processor etc(I'm not a pro at these things, but 2,6 Mhz is pretty good, innit?).

I needed a new computer for work, and I wanted one that can play any game or movie in high resolution. My current computer can't play most online games, because it's pretty slow and it doesn't have a very good graphic card or anything like that + I've had some problems playing videos in certain HD-formats (High Definition). I happened to have the money, so I went for it. Hopefully, I won't regret it :)
  • TheQ
Something tells me you got ripped off just a tad there...
  • Thomas
It's a customized Dell laptop with layout design by some artist I've never heard of. Here's a link:

    http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/topics/global.aspx/design_studio/design_studio?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=mn

I chose the "Sunburst" design :)
  • TheQ
Woah! I thought that 1600$ was a lot! What make is it?

Yeah, like the demo version was also an adventure kind of game as well, so it's all different. With just battles, you can just use the same techniques and game over.

And cstern, you should treat yourself to a holiday or something. All I noticed in the credits at the end of the game is 'Craig Stern'. Well either way, thanks!
  • Thomas
Hopefully, the new TRPG will have more goals or achievements than just completing the game. Like, getting the ultimate weapons or something simillar.. some kind of break from just fighting different people, or a goal for fighting more than the required amount of enemies or earning money through minigames - something to spend your earnings on. I spent 2300$ on a new laptop today, so I'm ready for a new game :)
  • TheQ
Yeah, I agree. I spent hours upon hours on the TP3 demo version, and because there was soo much that could be done, it was hard to get bored. However, I kind of move on to something else after a while of playing this, which is kind of good, because I actually get some work done!
  • Thomas
Well.. while playing the game, I kept thinking that there should've been some kind of variation from the same type of battles. Because although I do like that type of strategic battle games, it does get boring after 100-ish fights of doing the same all over again against different opponents in different settings. Don't get me wrong, I do like this game, but whenever I got tired or bored of training my characters or fighting in the tournament, I closed the game and started playing something else, because TPA2 lacks variation. I personally think that the end-boss fight wasn't very different from the other fights. However, I don't regret buying the game. I'm just pointing out what I think could've been different.
  • TheQ
    Congratulations! Was it worth it?
  • Thomas
I can't find it in my inbox, so I must've deleted it :/ well, it doesn't really matter.. I haven't had any problems with the tutorial, and I've completed the game already.
  • CraigStern
I'm not sure how it works if you don't register with their site. Did you keep the email they sent out with the download link? I would try that.
  • Thomas
What was wrong with the tutorials previously? And how do I download the fixed version of the full game? I can't log in to the site where I bought the game (bmtmicro), because the site didn't require me to register when I bought it. I don't remember if I got some kinda receipt.. It's not really that important, I'm just wondering.
  • CraigStern
Okay. For everyone else, though, the tutorials have been fixed (again) in the full version of the game.
  • TheQ
Not to worry. I just skipped it.
  • CraigStern
I'll have that fixed by tonight--I don't know how that one crept back in. :S
  • TheQ
How many people use the Mac Version cause it's kind of not working for me. It goes click the next button just after you go through the practice moving the character to the spot and there's no next button.
  • TheQ
Sorry. Imeant it wasn't sinister designs fault*
  • TheQ
It's sorted now. It was Sinister designs fault. Plimus just never sent me the download link
  • CraigStern
How is that Sinister Design's fault? Plimus is a separate service that's supposed to email you automatically. The only thing Sinister Design did was step in and manually make Plimus send you an email, which it shouldn't have to do in the first place.
  • CraigStern
TheQ, I just reactivated your download through Plimus. They say they've sent you a notification email. It should have a download link in it. Let me know if you have any problems.
  • TheQ
63 hours and counting! If this isn't solved soon then I'm just going to get a refund and not bother with it. This was the first time I ever paid for a game online as well! Not worth it. Disappointed Sinister Design :(
  • Thomas
That sounds odd. Cstern will probably solve the problem, but if it doesn't get solved soon, then you should demand a refund.
  • TheQ
Ok. I didn't get a download link when I made the purchase. I did receive an email saying I'll get the software licensing within 48 hours. The money has been taken out my account over 48 hours ago and I've received no correspondence. So not happy!
  • calaveras
    How frustrating...

To test, I had to start a new file becuase my current one could no longer win battles, and already had the lowest stats. I played a few matches, levelled the characters. Then I let one die and shut it off, but the reduction did not happen. I saved in two separate files before the battle, no change in either.

However, I know I'm not crazy, and this did happen. My first file could not possibly have made it as far as it has with the character's current stats. Now that I look at it, not all of the character's were reduced to base level. Those who had not been levelled much were, but my main assassin had only been reduced as far as strength 4, and 6 for the psy stats, still far below his previous strength.

I wonder if that stat reduction in my first file occured because the characters were stronger, or I'd gotten further?
  • Thomas
If I recall correctly, a download link appears as soon as you've made the purchase. I bought the game through the link on this site.. I don't know about other sites. Cstern and KZ probably know what to do.
  • TheQ
    How?
  • Thomas
Sent? You can download it immediately.
  • TheQ
How long does it take the software/license to be sent to you after you purchased it?
  • KZ
For answers of that kind, Andrew, I highly recommend checking either the forums (the walkthrough threads) and the wiki. (You can find both under the "community" section.)
  • Andrew
How much exactly does the gold orb do
  • TheQ
No. It doesn't matter anyway. I did it through plimus. And it works out cheaper!
  • KZ
calaveras: glad I got it, let me know what you find out.

The Q: chances are, they mean not the expiration date, but the issue date- some cards have that. So, try plugging that in, unless you bought it from plimus already.
  • calaveras
KZ understands what I am talking about - shutting it off before the battle finishes caused the stats reduction. I'll try what you suggested about multiple slots and get back to you. ^^
  • CraigStern
What can I say: time bends to my will.
  • TheQ
    That's a quick hour!
  • CraigStern
  • TheQ
Post a link on here when it's done please?
  • TheQ
    Thanks.
  • CraigStern
Not yet--I'll add it there. Give it an hour or so.
  • TheQ
There's a problem with the system.

I've used the card at like 20+ sites.

Is it possible to get a Mac version from that plimus site?
  • CraigStern
Have you used that card before? Maybe there's an activation date for it or something.
  • TheQ
Right. I have a Maestro Debit Card. I entered the card number. The expiration date. The issue number. And the security code. When I click submit, an error message comes up saying 'Enter a start date'. However, I don't have a start date...
  • CraigStern
Oh. Yes, that would make sense. Did you try putting in your card's expiration date?
  • Thomas
Start date...Do you mean expiration date?
  • TheQ
Sorry. I wasn't entirely clear. When I was entering my card details, it was asking for a start date then.

Could you send me the link for Mac download please.
  • CraigStern
Hi TheQ, BMT Micro is asking you for a start date? I really haven't the faintest clue what you're referring to. If it's giving you trouble, though, you can try buying it off Plimus instead: https://www.plimus.com/jsp/buynow.jsp?contractId=2549468
  • TheQ
    Hi.

Not connected to the game entirely, but when I go to purchase it it says that I have to enter a start date! But I don't have one. I have an issue number. It's really annoying me because I can't even purchase the game!
  • KZ
calaveras: that stats reduction is highly unusual- I have adopted the same tactic of simply closing down the game before the victory/loss screen and then re-loading the pre-battle save, and I've never experienced a stat reduction... Can you try the following: saving the same pre-battle game file in wo or three slots, then play a battle, but shut it off before the victory screen appeaars and then load the game from different slots- are the stats reduced in all of them, or just one (the one where you saved to last)?
  • Thomas
I always save before battles. It's tedious having to train up a new character after you've lost one(even when you can earn money by doing random battles), so I turn off and re-enter the game whenever I lose a character in battle. The game doesn't autosave until the match has ended. The stats getting reduced part must be some bug in the demo.
  • CraigStern
So, to clarify: you lost a character, the game autosaved, you closed the game, and then when you loaded your saved game, your hero character's stats were reduced? I'm not sure why that would happen. (The autosave part is normal, though--the game sometimes saves in your last used save slot after you finish a battle.)
  • calaveras
Thanks for the reply ^^ Glad my instinct was right on #2.

As for the save feature, I wish I could load my last saved game! Let me elaborate.

I found that my save files were behaving as an autosave. Once I killed a character and attempted to reload my file, only to find that it had been updated to after the battle, at was useless to me. Later, after I had gone further, a rather expensive character died. Without random battles I had little income, so I tried shutting off the game in hopes the my file would load at my last save. When I reloaded, my win records and progress in the tournament were the same as my last save, but all of my character's statistics had been drastically reduced, almost back to the base settings. Reloading my save file did not help - it had been overwritten.
  • Thomas
Ah, ok. Too bad I'm using a Shadowling healer, and not a human :P
  • KZ
Thomas: the 99hp cap can be temporarily overcome in battle by using Static Shield (that way I had a bowman with 102 hp in the final battle). ;)
  • CraigStern
    Haha, thanks!

(BTW, yes, the 99 health cap is intentional.)
  • lonerspack
Thanks KZ! Also, you are one of my idols Cstern!!!
  • Thomas
Correction: I'm on League 9, not 8 (the last league). My assassin has 99hp(my main character).. I've tried to boost it even more, but it doesn't increase anymore, even though I bought a few more levels in def skill just to check. Is it an intentional cap on the health, or..? I saw some Ravinale guards with 100hp just now, so I was just wondering.

About the approximate number of fights required to complete the game, I don't really mind having to go through a lot of fights, because it makes the game longer. I was making an example for Calaveras.
  • KZ
Thomas: about the numebr of battles won, on normal its more than feasible to beat the game with around 100 battles under yout belt (I did when I had 104), and a wad of gold still intact- it's all down to teammate configurations, I guess. So for those who're worried, just by looking at the number of battles mentioned, the minimum will be 71 (without any challenge battles beaten), though, having finished the game a few times myself, I strongly recommend beating the challenges, as the orbs can comein very handy, especially in later leagues.
  • CraigStern
Hey Andrew, that depends on what operating system you're using. Games are all saved as .sol files.

In Windows, you can find them by doing the following:

    1) Open up a search,
    2) Turn on the "find hidden files" option (if you have Vista, it will call this "include non-indexed, hidden, and system files"), and
    3) Search for PsyArena2*.sol (just like I've written it there).

You probably use a similar procedure to find them with a Mac, but I'm not sure of the particulars.

    4) Make a copy of the .sol files and paste them somewhere safe.
    5) Reinstall the game. If the old ones aren't there, start a new game and save. Find the new saved game's .sol file--that's the new directory for your game's save files. Copy and paste your old .sol files into that directory.
  • Andrew
Thanks. SO how do I back up my saved game files.
  • Thomas
Calaveras: 1) That doesn't happen in the full version.

    2) You get paid for winning random battles at the training area in the full version, but it still takes quite some time to boost your team enough to be able to take on the hardest levels in the tournament. I've won 204 battles so far. it took quite some time training against random opponents in order to get my team as strong as it is now, and I don't feel that my team is way superior to the other teams in the tournament (currently league 8). I'm a casual player, so this may not seem like a lot of time spent to some of you who are reading this.

Maybe I chose the wrong combination of characters? Anyhow, It's pretty easy to get money when you get to the point where you are able to defeat the mobs at the Obliette (hardest training stage).
  • CraigStern
Hey Calaveras, thanks! To answer your questions:

    1) I'm not sure what you mean by this. Can't you just load your last saved game? Unless you're not overwriting your saved games, in which case it might look like you've been "reset" when you do. (Make sure you click twice when trying to overwrite a saved game.)

    2) Your instinct is correct: you get just as much money for winning a randomized battle as you would for winning a league match with the same assortment of enemies. This way, the game gives you an incentive to always be fighting new battles rather than grinding on ones you've already beaten. :)
  • calaveras
    Hey there,

The new game is fun. I love that I can make a team of assassins. ^^ Currently messing with demo and considering the full version, but there are 2 issues that are causing me serious frustration.

    1) If the game is shut off in the middle of a fight, my entire team's stats get reset. Maybe you did this on purpose, but it's driving me nuts. Maybe you did this to keep people from shutting it off to save a character, but it would suck to have to start from scratch if your computer crashed or your power went out. I wouldn't mind training a new character from scratch every time I killed someone off, except...

2)Money. Decreasing earnings from a beating a team more than once makes loads of sense. However, it means that it can take forever to buy/train a new character to a useful level if you lose one. It seems like the team goes down the tubes if you lose one member - you won't be able to afford to improve anyone for a long time. I can see this issue being fixed in the full verison, assuming you get paid for winning random battles. Is that how it is?
  • CraigStern
Okay, all fixed! If you download the updated game and reinstall, that problem should be fixed. (Back up your saved game files first, though.)
  • CraigStern
Hey Andrew, I bet I know what's causing that. I'll fix it and upload an updated version of the game tomorrow. :)
  • Andrew
I have 2 shadow guardians. Both have the same stats but when the second one's attacks dont level up when I use them. Mind Blast is still at 1, Shadow Blast at 2, and Dark Vortex at 0. I've used all of these before but the levels still don't change. They are fine with my other shad guard
  • Andrew
    Thanks
  • KZ
Andrew: it increases PsP in both situations you've described, though you gain less PsP by moving, not attacking, than by not moving and not attacking (something along the lines of 5 and 10 PsP respectively).
  • stanley
if telepath rpg 3 has to be bought
could you at least make a couple of free games about past events in the series

like shadow queens rise to power,
    the dreary life of grotius,
    helenites: the begining
  • Andrew
Sorry I have another question. The yellow orb says it raised psy points gained when resting in battle and I was wondering if it only increases the amount you gain when you don't move or attack at all or if it also increases the amount gained when you move but don't attack.
  • KZ
jk: AI means artificial intelligence, that thing that controls what the enemy units on the map do to your Hero and your teammates. Having a Dark Spriggat on the player's team would mean that the enemies' speed will be affected (Dark Breath reduces speed), and that would mean that one would have to write a behavioral code for all units for different speeds, and that would take a very long time indeed!
  • jk
Plus it would make the game wwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to easy if u could buy greater ghosts and dark spriggats. by the way, wht does Al mean?
  • CraigStern
Let's just say that there are specific AI-related reasons why you can't get those units.
  • Sander11.
I was wondering if you could ad all units on the meat market, cause i would like a black spriggat and a greater ghost (love the looks of them).
  • LethalLaurie
Hm, let's see... plus the Azure-orb'd Main, I have a total of 5 flying units, but one of them is my Shadowling healer and he's not very strong offensively. At first I tried to cluster my men in the middle and let the units come to me. I'll have to try your diversion tactic. : 3
  • jk
anyone who wants advice in telepath psy arena 2 in leages 8-10, can ask me
  • KZ
    PS
LethalLaurie: yep, that's a nasty one, my advise is to use as many flying units as possible, have a Healer with Static Shield, and have the Hero equipped with the Azure Orb, and run him around the map, thus serving as a distraction from your main force.
  • KZ
lonerspack: cstern knows everything 'cause it's his game. And the demo will "cut you off" after you beat league 3.
Andrew: shadolwings appear after you beat league 2.
  • LethalLaurie
Hey JK, any idea on that second survival challenge?
I'm determined to beat it AND keep all my guys alive, but OMGitssohard... D:
  • jk
wups. the 50s,60s,and70s part wuz suppose to go with the hp part:0
  • jk
I BEAT THE GAME!!! the last battle took me only 2 tries. it was easier than i thought it would be, but thats only because my team had high HP, and high attack power.
    (50s,60,70s)
  • Andrew
Thomas: I just beat the second league and they are now there. When i saw the red spriggit i hadn't fought one yet nor have I fought a shadowling yet. I think you can buy them after you are able to do a battle with one in it.
    Thanks anyway
  • Thomas
Andrew: I'm pretty sure they won't appear at the the meat market until after you've fought one.
  • lonerspack
Also, cstern, are you the creator or one of the designers? Because you always seem to know the answers to everything(which i really do appreciate!)
  • lonerspack
Question: Is the demo the full game or will it cut me off at a certain point?
  • andrew
How do i get a shadowling? On Telepath RPG Wiki it that they are avaible at the Meat Market after the Novice League. I beat that league and the red spriggit is avaible but I have not seen a shadowling. I have been to the market many times also; at least 10.
  • lonerspack
Too bad its not free. :( Im gratful there is a game out though! :) I want to know if there will be any crossovers though. :P
  • CraigStern
Right. To get rid of a spirit from your team, you have to Dismiss it from the View Team menu.
  • andrew
Thanks. So spirits can't die and be gone for good at all?
  • Thomas
Ah, ok. Thanks for the reply, cstern :)
  • CraigStern
No problem; all is forgiven. :)

Thomas, you've got the gist: skills show up depending on each character's stats. Try raising a Swordsman's Psy Power by a point or two, or an Assassin's Psy Defense by two points, then mouse over their New Skill button at the trainer's. You should see something new show up there. This is meant to encourage experimentation with different training regimes. If you just want to know what combinations of stats unlock what, however, there's a thread somewhere on the forums that tells you.
  • miguel
well i guess i could pay for it. sorry, a bit of a stress of my budget has me worrying about what quality games i should and shouldnt buy.

    i apologize
  • Thomas
I lost one of my characters when I first started, too. He didn't come back in the next battle, though; he dissapeared from the team management page. Anyhow, I think the system of measuring experience is unnecessarily confusing. I do get the fact that the skill levels up for every .50 experience, but the classic 1-100 exp bar is so much more easier to keep up with. Some of the skills even have x.xxx exp.. so.. It's confusing, and I don't really bother keeping track of it anymore.

And I'm wondering about what the requirements are for getting new skills? Do they appear at the training area when you've levelled previous skills, or what? Maybe you need to raise their stats in order for new skills to appear?
  • CraigStern
    Andrew:

    1) Spirits are an exception to the rule; since spirits are already dead, they reappear after they "die" in battle. All other units that die are dead forever, even in randomized battles.

    2) That should work, yes. (If it doesn't, let me know and I'll see what BMT Micro has to say about it.)

    Miguel:

TRPG2 took 9 months of very hard work to make, and you get to play it for free. Perhaps you should be grateful for that, rather than complaining that its sequel (at two years of development and counting) isn't going to be free.
  • miguel
i doubt i will be coming back to this site, as i hate the idea that if i want a quality sequel to the 2nd telepath rpg i will have to pay for it, as it seems to be the case with this game
  • andrew
    Ok i have two questions:
First when you lose a teammate in a random battle are they dead for good? Becaus I lost a spirt fighting in the grotto and they were back in the team the next battle.
My other question is how do you download this to other computers? Do you go to the link in the email from the other computer?
  • CraigStern
The free version is already out: it's called a demo. :P
  • lonerspack
    Two Questions:

    1. When will the free version be out, since i have like, no money. :(

    2. Will there be crossovers from this game to Telepath RPG 3? I hope the other one comes out free!
  • WCG
    Never mind. Found it.
  • WCG
Ach! How do I turn off the music in the demo?
  • CraigStern
Yes, they can, but a couple of the new features probably won't work if you use the old pre-release saved games (e.g. your tenth team member spot will say "undefined" and you won't be able to see any of the cut scenes).
  • johnnyrider
sorry noob here, can the games saved on the demo you took down be used
  • KZ
Well, w.r.t. the first problem mentioned by Thomas, I guess it's best if everyone simply tried to avoid having teammates by the same name- since there is at least a dozen names for each class, simply try re-entering Meat Market and picking up a teammate of the same class with a different name. ;)
The second one isn't a bug- that's the reason why there is also a "survive 35 turns" objective, as sometimes teammates and enemies get locked in on the rabdom maps (unintentional as it is in random maps, TPA1, for instance, featured a few maps where that was done on purpose, adding to the challenge).

Anyway- some of the new units in TPA2 have very impressive area attack AI (e.g. like the Greater Ghost)!
  • Thomas
The Second bug I've noticed is that sometimes when the level starts, some of my characters (usually only 1 of them, and it happens to the opponents, too) get trapped inside obstacles, rendering them unable to move. It happened to my main character just now; he got stuck in a corner and stayed there throughout the fight. It's not a big deal.. just letting you know.

Also: I lost a player after one of the fights earlier. The weird thing is that none of my characters actually died, but I got penalized for losing a player, at the end of the match + I lost a random player. However, according to the status screen, I have a total of [0 Deaths].

Apart from the bugs, good game ^^ A new Telepath RPG would've been even greater.
  • andrew
I'm deffintly going tp buy this tomorrow
  • Thomas
I have a psy-fighter and a healer, both named Kafka. I can't use them both at the same time, for some reason. They both appear on the team management bar when i remove him from the team, but when I add one of them to the team (doesn't matter which one), it automatically becomes the healer, and the other one dissapears. It's quite frustrating, considering I've spent time and gold on buying him :/
  • Peter
    forgot to say:
Yay! I've been waiting for this soooooooo much, like abot 2 months, I started getting in this page every day, looking for updates, btw, I preffered the old homepage, it was more "sinister-like" than this one, but I love the music player in this one.
finally, I have a last question, are shadowlings and spriggarts available in demo version?
...I love the game, and I'm looking forward to TRPG3.
  • Peter
what are the differences between the demo version and the purchasable one?

It works just fine for me. Try it again.

By the way, I've uploaded the demo to Fileplanet; you can always try nabbing it from there if FileFront has any issues:

    Mac/Linux Version</del>

EDIT: the demos are now locally hosted; please download them from this page.

Yay! I can't even download the free version! The computer says I can't access the site, or something and aborts. :(

Hey Slpstk, as far as I know, you can download the game on as many of your own computers as you like.

I know that BMT Micro will block you from downloading the game if it senses that you're downloading it from more than one country. Maybe they were suspicious because there was more than one download in a short period of time? You should send them an email to see why you were blocked.
