Well I have bad news (for you people who don't have credits cards or parents who are willing to pay) Craig has decided to make Telepath servants of God a game that you must buy, although the demo will surely end up on top gaming sites like Newgrounds and Kongregate

Craig mentioned he might be taking the demo down soon.

Yes for TSoG, no for TPA2.

Once I get a credit card...I'll buy it.

If I'm still interested by the time I get one.

For me, it depends on what the price is.

Whattt!!?!!! He needs people like us to look through the finshed product and make sure it has no glicthes, it works properly and stuff like that!

If it is between 10-25 I might ask my parents to get it for me, but if its higher than no way

It is a little early to shut down the demo, unless he had people to test out the game.

Craig did say indeed that TSoG, like TPA2 will be a buy-only game.
From what I understand from his comments, at some point, relatively soon, he'll stop undpating the public demo, but I'll be very surprised if that is actually taken down- it probably wouldn't be simply updated, that's all.

Well, Zackirus, it's the same problem all the time, when you are trying to sell a product, in this case- a game, and you have unknown strangers testing it- some may not be very honest and may leak the game elsewhere, pose it as their own work (and try selling it), or simply give it online for free. I am sure Craig will keep it open for as long as possible, but there was this form of feedback from many people which Craig mentioned on the forums: that after playing 90% of the game for free, they didn't feel like buying the whole thing. So, the public demo will probably be open to the same degree as the official free TPA2 demo.

Incidnetally, im2smart4u, did you buy TPA2 in the end?

As long as he doesn't leak the source code/goes for a patent he should be protected from IR crime.

And if he doesn't keep up the updating, it will take far longer to do bug testing as he doesn't have the wide audience testing out the whole game as he would with continuing updates.

Also, if he'd stopped updates, I'd lose interest, and forget about the game, and even if I had a credit card unlikely to buy it.

I'm not going to take down the TSoG demo--what I'm planning to do is transition to a downloadable demo instead of an in-browser one.

No.  For something that lacks story, it costed too much.  Even for my xbox, if games doesn't have a good, fulfilling story, I won't buy it.

Depending on the price, I might buy or not buy TSoG.

Are the games that you have to pay for monthly payment or one payment?

Just one payment, one time, and you own it forever. ;)

Most parents wont probably buy it unless it says https on the address bar

My parents would never buy it for me.  I'd have to arrange a birthday gift from someone with a credit card...
But I'll keep testing the demo and contributing, and lurk around the Forum Games until he starts working on TRPG4, or whatever he chooses next.

I can convince my mom to buy some things most parents wont buy. Not trying to say anything but has anyone tried being nice or behaved maybe obedient even sucking up to their parents it works notably well. Thats what I do the being nice part.

Post by: Bromtaghon on July 02, 2010, 10:20:53 AM
I have strict parents.  They probably wouldn't buy it.  And I'm obedient and nice and behaved, although I've never tried sucking up since I doubt they'd fall for it.

Have you tried yet? Do your chores extra nicely, do extra homework, etc., and then suck up, try once, if they say "yes"... totally worth it.

Than get some ask to do the dishes once in a while then you're parents will ask why your doing all this than you tell them what you want. At the max give it w week.

My parents are so strict. They're okay with playing online if it's free. But the second I mention the word "Payment" they give me the look. I don't think I'm gonna be able to purchase TSoG or TPA2. Sometimes I just need to take a breath to get a "No". I'm gonna try to convince them though.

Yeah. I can afford it. My rents just won't use their credit cards to make the purchase.

I think you can just make one. But you'll need all the makings of a real book just make a fake page.

First I would need to find a good parenting book online.

Wait exactly what do you want a made up part of an actual book or one online. Be specific and give me an idea of what you want me to say.

Online. Say like umm... Something about saying no to your child too much can seriously affect your relationship with them. Instead, make small agreements such as using your credit card to buy a game from online!

Okay I might not get them to you for awhile then again so is the game. When will I get them to you unknown. Hey namelesskitty what about you I need to know what to use for manipulation for your parents.  They need to be exact and has to be a part in which they are easy to manipulate.

My parents let me buy almost any games (but I have to pay myself). If your parents are that strict, you should look for pirate copies. I usally hate them, but if you have that strict parents, you have the right to that.
