Title: Knife?
Post by: Zackirus on October 05, 2010, 08:55:09 AM
Does anyone know how to get the Knife from Al'al. I have tried everything I know but I still can't find it. Can anyone help?

Your personality might not be high enough.

Start Arman's side quest.
Talk to Al'a'
Pick the option that has his name in it
Tell him you want be involved in what he is doing
Agree to kill the guy without asking questions
Assume that you will be fairly compensated

Thanks im2smart4u

Although how did you convince Al'al to leave Arman alone? As far as this side quest goes, you only talked about becoming an assassian for The Order of the Black Rose

I don't know.  I talked to Arman later and I recieved the extra speed as if Al'al took the gold.  I wondering if it a bug, if Craig hasn't added extra dialogue, or if you took Arman's place in the Black Rose.

Your instructions, I found, were inadequte for my purposes.

'Pick the option that has his name in it' -- Who is 'he'?

It would help more if whoever finds this post first would give the precise dialogue options.

It would be very appriciated if you did.

You need 11 personality to complete the quest (To get the knife).

Start at Baz's Manor and approach Arman and choose the following following options:

   * Sure.
   * What's the job?
   * What is this, exactly?
   * Okay, fine.

Next you need to go to the Ravinale Docks and speak to Al'al and choose the following options:

   * Are you Al'al?
   * Me. Whatever you are involved in, I want in.
   * Well... no.
   * Depends. What is the pay?
   * No, not really.
   * [Continue]
   * [Continue]
   * [Continue]
   * [Continue]
   * [Continue]
   * [Done]

Now go back to Arman.

   * Yeah. Sort of.
   * I did, but he wouldn't accept it.
   * What's going on here Arman?
   * I'm going to help you out with this Arman.
   * [Done]

Now if you go back to Al'al, you can go on assassination missions. Plus you get the 500 gold from Arman.

Thanks Zack. So you can't get knife and the +1 speed? Only one or the other?

As Craig Commented:

QuoteWhy? This is what RPG game developers would call "a choice with consequences".  ;)

I can only get the knife damage up to 1 (Backstab=2). Is this intentional?

In addition, I think you should be able to ask Arman to be trained with the knife. You could learn a few new skills, too, maybe.

Well, I've been able to get backstab up to 18, enough to kill a bandit on Brutal -- by leveling up the attack.

That "strength doesn't count" bug has been fixed (in the browser version, anyway). Try it now.

Thanks. That bug made the first assassin mission nigh impossible without an elemental attack. Thanks Craig.

Yeah, though I used feedback.

But once you kill remove the other bandits, it becomes pretty hopeless. Unless you spend an hour or two trying to level up knife in battle, that is.

Why not just use Mind Blast?
Title: Re: Knife?
Post by: bugfartboy on January 02, 2011, 02:15:35 PM
Because mindblast doesn't work on inanimate objects such as the barrels protecting the dude you need to kill.

But you can just use Knife on the barrels for however long the barrels take, on the side with the guy, not the side with the healer. That way, the healer can't reach.

*facepalm* Now I feel like an idiot. I guess I was thinking that I was going to play it safe if I didn't know how hard the dude hit.
