Option 1: Departed Souls

Welcome to the Poll of The Week, the newest poll(s) to Sinister Design Forums. What happens is that each week their will be a new poll up, that will be discussed. However, once the time has expired (7 Days) the poll results will be stored and a new poll topic will be created. The poll question could be anything about TSoG. Poll ideas can be suggested, once the poll has changed. Also, all arguments and discussion about the previous poll should end when the poll is changed. Remember to Vote and Discuss! I made a mistake with something on the old poll, so: the poll of the week will be restarted here, sorry for the trouble.

I dot know how to do the Arman sidequest. I havn't gotten to it yet nor have I had the time to myself to do it. That and the game lags my computer. *shrug*
Suggestion: perhaps an opinion poll would work better, you know, instead of a fact based poll.
Namlesskitty: It can be considered an opinion because you can decide which ending you get. I would decide to get the Knife Ending. Why? Well because, you will probably get the green orb which will give you 9 speed, so it makes the 6 speed is unnecessary. Also: The missions give you a lot of gold on top of the knife attack.
Oh, I see how that works. Thank you for clarifying that for me. :)
New Poll Topic: Of the three known playable characters yet to be added to the game, which one will you use (assume you can only pick one)?
I picked the red spriggat because it might gain heat resistance, which might prove useful if there are any other bosses in the game which use pyro attacks.
I chose frost spriggat because it compliments my fire affinity.
Is it confirmed that there will be a Wood-Folk character? If so, I vote that one since it isn't on the list, as it is the most different.
I think that's still speculation.
Right then, but that's the one I would pick were it an option, as the Frost Spriggat has been done already, and Red Spriggat is kind of the same thing, so the Spearman is the most original out of the three. The Spearman gets my vote.
Is the none option like other or you don't want any more teammates
Of the three given options, my choice is the Spearman, as the Wood-Folk is unconfirmed insofar.
New Poll Topic: How Do You Play Your Hero?
My hero is a complete offensive tank. When i split my forces into 3 parts, it goes:
Griffin, Rahel, and Set
Arman, Luca, and Malis
Duvalier
Defensive, I hold my ground unless I get bored and just want to obliterate the little Cult members or I need to end the battle quickly.
I play him as a sniper, only getting close enough to pick someone off when my others are in trouble.
I typically use Luca to do that. I also use her to distract and soften up swordsmen since her physical resistance allows her to hang in a long while. I use my hero as one of my main fighters, if not the main fighter.
But Luca has no long-range attacks that really do damage...
As a sniper, I use her to kill units that are almost dead at the end of my turn. I don't want to waste another move on them or have them attack me the next turn, so I just use soul suck to finish them off. I have a lot of soul charges, because most enemies who have just enough health to survive the main's attack are finished by soul suck.
New Poll Topic: What Do You Think The Chances Are For The Resistance To Free Ravinale From The Cult?
None Can Stand Against Him.
Well, seeing as no one really knows CraigStern's mind, it's hard to tell what he has in store. Maybe he'll add a twist so that you can attempt to destroy the Cult, side with the Cult and go into a long battle against however big your Resistance army is, maybe you can get the option to flee and hide in the Hadarac Desert for years until the war is over. There's not telling. My vote: 50%
New Poll Topic: Do You Think That The Gods (Yawah and Anu) Actually Exist In The Telepath Universe?
Nope. People were utterly convinced Nelis was a God, but she was just very strong. I think it will be similar for Anu and Yawah. Or they could be made up entirely.
I'm thinking Anu might be some sort of Creator/stays out of mortals' affairs-type of deity, but I don't think Yawah exists as a god. Cygnus seems too fanatical in eradicating shadowlings and psy-capables, not to mention hiding his(?) face/identity. It seems to me that someone unknown might be pulling the strings. Someone with a grudge against the shadowlings and psy-fighters. Someone powerful, who it has taken decades to recover/build up strength... :-*
I actually think it depends on your choices somewhat...

New Poll Topic: Do You Think That The Gods (Yawah and Anu) Actually Exist In The Telepath Universe?
The first time I played SoG, I though taht Anu was a true god while Yawah is a false god.
Also, I though the Cult was a band of nonbelivers.
Anu is a made-up god like God, and Allah, and Buddha, and the rest are. I'm sorry if that offends you.
Yawah, I think, may be a very powerful spirit.
Quote from: Duckling on December 22, 2010, 09:01:45 PMI'm sorry if that offends you.
On countless times, you said that you don't care how anyone else feels. Don't pretend like you care how anyone else feels now.
Don't go off topic just to tell me off, and call me a heartless bastard. I can be courteous when I choose, and no one can stop me. When I'm making a point that has nothing to do with anyone on Earth's religion, I care enough not to bring the whole theism vs. atheism snafu in here; you brought it up this time, jerk.

Anu is a made-up god, like God, and Allah, and Buddha, and the rest.
as people do, funnily enough, take that as having to do with their religon
I was trying to say that Anu was as real, or no more real than, any of those gods. I just hoped no one took offense at the comparison.
Y'see, while any person following a particular god would say that the others are malarky, and anyone not following it would say it's malarky, I distance myself from all, and say they're all malarky. Everyone agrees that Anu isn't real here, but I needed a comparison. Anu is as real to those who believe him as God is to those who believe in Him, and Anu is as silly as people think Buddha is if they are not Buddhist.
And one can interpret my statement however they like. I said that Anu is a made-up god like God, Allah, Buddha and the rest. If the rest are not made-up, then Anu is made-up to a "like" extent to that of the other gods, which is to say, not at all. If some of ours are real, who's to say Anu is not as well. My statement left open possibilities, and im2smart4u chose not to see them.

Yes, but it left these possibilites open only through this above explanation. Your post made it seem as if all of the gods you listed were made up. And I do believe even with the explanation some people will resent that their deity is just as real as a videogame god. And please don't make the fact that im2smart4u interepreted your post to be offensive about his personality. It looked extremely insulting without the explanation, no two ways about it.
Fine. Take it the wrong way.
If they resent the idea that their god is as real as a videogame god, and they hold neither a videogame god nor gods they do not worship to be real, then they resent the very idea that some consider the gods they do not worship real, and the god they worship not to be real.
If they are offended by the very idea of other religions, it's their fault, not mine.
And im2smart4u: sorry about calling you a jerk. That wasn't very nice of me. I hope any further animosity between the two of us is based on actions I have not apologized for, on grounds of irreconcilable differences.
New Poll Added: Who Do You Think Is The Better Assassin?
I think that's an unfair question. Arman has a higher speed, but when you factor in shadowport 1&2 they are about equal, and they both have their uses. For example: Arman is better against Fernatus because of Fernatus's mind resistance, but Malis is better against all spirits because of their physical resistance. So I'd say they are about equal.
Mega Stab is way stronger than shadow blast though. It has a 300% backstab bonus, where as shadow blast does not. And I believe the damage formulas usually have mega stab be stronger anyways.
But... Mega Stab has a higher Psi Point cost.
Very high. I don't think this is an unfair question though. I chose 'equal'.

New Poll Topic: Which Boss Is Your Favourite To Battle?
For me:
Since I haven't Pre-Ordered, I think Fernatus is a fun boss. If I had Pre-Ordered, I would probbaly say Malekahin.
Malehakin's too easy.
The Warden. He's got it tough, havin the Cult breathin down his neck and all. But I don't know about the full game bosses. So I'm just going with the Warden.
What Warden?
When you initially get Arman and Set. That "boss" battle.
When it doubt, go to the wiki (http://telepath.wikia.com/wiki/Warden).
(Please note that most wiki information is written by our own im2smart4u.) Yep. The wiki is useful. And Chrono is right.
New Poll Topic: Which Race/Faction Would You Like To See An Expansion On?
Shame its only one vote. I wanted to vote Spriggats and Gelves, but since there is only 1 vote you can make, I had to choose Spriggats.
By Gelves do you mean the Woodfolk?
Yes, that is what he means.

Gelf (http://telepath.wikia.com/wiki/Gelf) is a person, while Folk-of-the-Woods (http://telepath.wikia.com/wiki/Folk-of-the-Woods) is a race. Gelves aren't anything.
Oh okay. So it's not Woodfolk? It's Folk-of-the-Woods? Alright. I still voted for that race.
Quote from: Fyer on January 12, 2011, 04:44:06 PMOh okay. So it's not Woodfolk? It's Folk-of-the-Woods? Alright.
"Folk-of-the-Woods" and "Wood-Folk" are terms used by Craig to describe Gelf's race. "Gelves" has never been used as a term for the race.
Alright. I'd still like to see them improved some point in the future.
I wouldn't like to see a Woodfolk expansion beacuse I think that .... they.... erm.... don't quite fit into Telepath. That's just my idea though. I voted for Spriggats.
Excuse me. How do they not fit into Telepath? Please explain. Do you know what the Folk-of-the-Wood are? Hmm?
KZ said that Craig told him that Folk-of-the-Woods are either not very powerful with the Gift or not Gifted at all. This make the Wood-Folk into a much needed contrast to the completely Gifted races such as shadowlings and spriggats.
I voted for pirates, because I think we are on less friendly terms with them compared to Spriggats and Wood-Folk. I rather see more enemies, then more allies.
I agree with im2smart4u. We need more enemies.

I know what they are. Gelf is one. Well, to further explain my point - no offence here - I think they are more suited to fairy tales than to Telepath.
Then go join the Twilight forums waaayyy over there. *points* The Wood-Folk are a part of the Telepath world. If you don't like it, then you CAN go join the Twilightians. In Telepath the Wood-Folk are green skinned people that live in the Great Forest. They aren't magical (that we know of) They aren't fairies. If you don't like it, talk to Craig.
You sound like you're flaming here, Fyer >:( As I said, 'NO OFFENCE'! Also, disliking Folk-Of-The-Woods does not mean I like Twilight. I detest Twilight. I know how Folk-Of-The-Woods look like, and where they exist, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Even though I do not like an expansion on the Folk-Of-The-Woods, I would never ask Craig to remove them. Also, YOU ARE BEING MEAN! COOL DOWN!

Well this is a fantasy world, so there are similarities to fairy tales, but I don't know why you singled out Wood-Folk. Humans who control the elements and strange races such as spirggats and shadowlings would seem more 'magical' and 'fairly tale-like' then the Folk-of-the-Woods.
Personally, I enjoyed Pirate Pete's drunkenness and funny dialects.

New Poll Topic: Who Do You Think Is The Final Boss?
Nelis. Duh! There's no way that the hero in TRPG2 killed her.
I'm also kind of thinking Nelis, for Cygnus is probably too weak to be a final boss... or a boss at all, D'Kah is not the "final boss" sort of character, though it would make for a nice twist, there is a fairly good chance that Yawah is Nelis, in my opinion, so I chose Nelis.
Quote from: Duskling on January 22, 2011, 12:29:00 AMI'm also kind of thinking Nelis, for Cygnus is probably too weak to be a final boss... or a boss at all, D'Kah is not the "final boss" sort of character, though it would make for a nice twist, there is a fairly good chance that Yawah is Nelis, in my opinion, so I chose Nelis.
What gave you the impression that Cygnus is weak? I imagine that Cygnus has to be very powerful in order to be the master of powerful Acolytes such as Fernatus (http://telepath.wikia.com/wiki/Fernatus) and Malekahin (http://telepath.wikia.com/wiki/Malekahin). Similar to Tastidian, D'Kah is going to be the boss before the final boss. The theory on Nelis being the final boss is idiotic for numerous reasons.
I do hope you're suggesting "Yawah" and not "Yahweh" as the final boss.
Cygnus is a prophet. He maintains his position because he's convinced everyone that he's in contact with Yawah. That doesn't mean that he's uber powerful.

Cygnus is clearly powerful enough with the Gift to convince people that they are being touched by god (That is clearly what happened in the Bandit Cave and what happened to the mother). You can't honestly think that it is more likely that the Nelis is boss while Cygnus is a powerless pawn? That would be just stupid storytelling.
Wait, that was Cygnus? Why did he just kill Duvalier right there and then?
Maybe he wanted to "convert" Duvalier, much better to have him as an asset than dead.
Quote from: Duckling on January 22, 2011, 09:17:08 PMWait, that was Cygnus? Why did he just kill Duvalier right there and then?
As of now, it is a theory. Cygnus can use his Gift to make people fell touched by god. Cygnus' "blessings" are picked up at random, so that explains why Duvalier was the only one who felt it in the cave and why the mother felt it while the father didn't. I don't think Cygnus knew who he was blessing or where the blessed are, so he had no way to kill Duvalier.

I agree on that. I don't quite understand what made people think that Nelis would be the final boss. Seriously Nelis? Are you kidding? She (if you play the canon ending) is DEAD, and her story probably stops there.
I am 99.9% sure that it is Nelis.
Quote from: HeadShot on January 24, 2011, 05:46:41 PMI am 99.9% sure that it is Nelis.
Since there is no evidence whatsoever for the return of the Shadowling Queen, I am willing to put money on it. Since you are 99.9% sure, the odds of Nelis not being the final boss would be .001 to 1. Lets each put down a $100. If you win based on the odds, then I will give you $0.10. On nearly impossible chance that I win, then you will give me $99900. So are you sure enough to put money on it?
I personally believe that it won't be any of the choices above. I mean, you might be given the choice to "swtich" sides through TSoG, and take on a completly new final boss... but that is just my opinion.
Quote from: malignusThe plan is to have two endings, though the choices will not be as stark as they were last time.
I don't think he will switch sides. The Hero either has enough troops to take back Ravinale or the lack of soldiers cause them to lose the civil war.
New Poll Topic: Which Mission is Your Favourite In TSoG So Far?
Mission 3. WOW: That was easy.
Mission 1. Why? You can leave in between battles anytime.
I want to change my vote to Raid the Armory, because it is the best mission now that it is complete.
I agree, however, what was your vote before...
I played Raid the Armoury beacuse of the cheat bug, but I still find Rescue the Labourers more abundant in enemies ans stuff.
Quote from: Zackirus on February 04, 2011, 07:45:50 AMI agree, however, what was your vote before...
Mission 2, I like the ambush and capturing the space battles.
New Poll Topic: What Affinity Is Cygnus?
I think he's going to be able to use his mind to cause physical damage. Like make the earth underneath you shake. Or a compressed bolt of air to hit you. Or maybe he's secretly the leaders of the Black Rose and has about twenty knives up his left sleeve! That would be cool!
Im calling Light; it just seems appropriate.
Nah. I think it's either Mental, healing or other. My best bet is healing.
I think it will be Heat, because Craig made a portrait for Fire Gate (http://images.wikia.com/telepath/images/6/6f/Attack_FireGate.png) at the time he first created portraits of D'Kah and Cygnus.
I also think it is Heat, what with Fernatus mentioning bringing down Yawah's wrath down upon Duvalier and the crew, and since he had Pyro Hail, I'm thinking Cygnus will have Fire Gate.
I don't think there would be 2 acolyte bosses of the same affinity.
Duskling: I don't get your idea. Bringing down Yawah's wrath and having Pyro Hail has nothing to do with Cygnus.
Quote from: Idozen Cair on February 09, 2011, 08:56:22 AMI don't think there would be 2 acolyte bosses of the same affinity.
The alternate ending showed two portraits of acolytes that weren't Fernatus or Malekahin. One will have the Cold element, while the other will have the Light element. I think Prophet will be able to use multiple elements like the Shadowling Queen. One of these attacks is likely Fire Gate, so I voted Heat.
But you didn't state that you think he's multi-affinity earlier, did you? My idea:
1. Cygnus may be a ruthless prophet who has very strong faith in Yawah, but his personality(from what I know)suggests that he's a man of peace, not war. Therefore I don't think he will have such combat-oriented skills or a combat-oriented affinity.
2. If you want to talk about skills, go to the stat guessing, not here.

*Since it is a video game, I am pretty sure that we would fight Cygnus, because he would be a waste of a character to not be a boss.
*Game mechanics aside, Cygnus doesn't seem that peaceful. He used the military to get power instead of more peaceful means. He trains his Acolytes for combat roles instead of just healing.

Because, if he is forced to fight, he'll bring down Yawah's wrath, not his enlightenment, which would have probably failed at that point. So, he wouldn't be trying to make you see the light, so to speak, he'd try to make you feel like you are burning in hell for defying his god.
QuoteQuote from: Idozen Cair on February 09, 2011, 11:20:46 PMGah. I'm not saying that we wouldn't fight him. Where did you get that idea?
Quote from: Idozen Cair on February 09, 2011, 11:18:40 AMTherefore I don't think he will have such combat-oriented skills or a combat-oriented affinity.
I assumed you were saying that we wouldn't fight him, because he doesn't have the ability or "skills" to be in combat. Either way, your idea doesn't make sense for a video game.

That makes no sense. If he's going to have attacks like Nelis, why vote heat when you can vote light?
I said Cygnus "will be able to use multiple elements like the Shadowling Queen" which is different from saying "he's going to have attacks like Nelis". I do think that they will share Fire Gate, but I don't assume that they were share Holy Blast or the Light Element.
In all honesty, "Holy Gate" seems like something he would have if he were multiple affinitied. Unless Craig has his own original ideas for Cygnus if he were a boss.
Fine then. My turn to question you. Why don't you think he'll be Healing?
Wonder why nobody voted for Shadow?
I don't think the Light, Cold, Shadow, or Heal will or will not be Cygnus's elements. I don't see any evidence to form an opinion either way. I voted Heat, because the new Fire Gate protrait was posted on the wiki during the same time Cygnus's portrait was posted. (That may end up being a coincidence.) I do doubt that Cygnus will have physical attacks, since both Iblis and D'Kah are bosses that already used mostly physical attacks. I do doubt that Cygnus will have Holy Gate, because I don't see Craig trying to make Cygnus the mirror image of the Shadowling Queen.
New Poll Topic: Are You Willing To Trade Qudssi and Respect For Luca'ra'il?
With 8 save files available, why can't I play both options? Qudssi is a useful swordsman, but he has a boring personality. He won't be missed too much by me.
No way. I always choose the moral route in video games; I can't live with myself if I, for example, kill a teammate.
Don't laugh at me.

It isn't funny, maybe to some people it is, but not to me, because I get attached to just about anything I spend a decent amount of time with, such as my cello, characters in most RPGs (sometimes I feel I don't care if they die, but it kills me inside when/if they do... especially if by my hand), and my friends (obviously). :/ Even though they're just games, RPGs generally bring out the best in me, so, most of the time, in RPGs I do the things that don't harm anyone, or, at least, harm the least amount of people the action can.

There is always something unnerving about choosing the evil path, but I always end up going back later to play evil because my curiosity makes me wonder "what would have been different?".
Ah! I would've done that too.
I do that a lot of times. I get a kick out of it on occasion.
The game "Evil Rogue AI" allowed/made me take that route. After a while, the levels were too difficult to do without killing anyone.
"City Siege" drove me to perfection; I couldn't really let any of the civilians die.
I've played "Evil Rouge AI" and agree with that. They get way too hard after a while.
But I've never played City Seige. I'll have to try it.
Oh, it's just a standard platformer-shooter with a little more content than usual.
Games can sometimes bring out the best in you, or the worst in you. Agree?
Quite so. In puzzle games, you don't really have to do either.
Try to stay on topic.
Thanks.
New Poll Topic: Who Is Your Least Favourite Character?
Set- he's too boring and linear
This was actually tough because I think they're all pretty interesting characters (or, at least, amusing). Despite her very useful battle abilities, though, Luca just bores me...
Qudssi-there's an obvious reason for that.
Set- Not very fun to talk to, makes me feel guilty if I talk to him in the wrong way if I just click away to end the conversation and choose the wrong one, and overall, he's not very useful either.
Keep in mind, I'm basing this opinion from the last time I played TSoG, the online demo.
Luca'ra'il. Rather despicable.
New Poll Topic: What Class Is Rajav?
This is me just joking around. I said other. I think (s)he (it's a possibility you know.) is a giant sentient cookie that can crush anyone in it's path. However, Rajav may be a Gelflit. (Yay me!!! I made a new name for them!!!)
Well, Craig said 2 hours before the poll was made that Rajav is a spirit (http://sinisterdesign.net/forum/index.php?topic=31.msg34386#msg34386)...
How do you know he's not a spirit spearman? Or a giant spirit cookie secretly named Steve?
Then I'm guessing the mystery of who the Spirit in the flyer (http://www.sinisterdesign.net/Downloads/TSoGFlyer.pdf) was is solved?
What happened to the poll of the week?
Hey, that would make a good question for Poll of the Week!
Back by (not) popular demand. Poll of the Week:
What Are Spirits?
I have to say that spirits being departed souls is sort of a weird hypothesis. Perhaps spirits being the manifestation of the souls of dead people would be better.
