perhaps the AI was trying to keep from being attacked itself?
As far as I am aware, the AI doesn't have self-preservation mechanism - if it can, it will attack and try to deal the most damage.
In fact, from what I see, TSoG employs units that have had their AI written over very long period of time, such that some of the most basic and oldest units have realtively primitive AI- 'cause the latest AI to roll out is pretty good in comparison- take the Greater Ghost,for instance. But then again, the old AI has been patched up during TPA2 production. All I know is that if all AI is of the level of Greater Ghost, the enemies will pose a greater challenge.

-ok, here it is, I realized however that it's simply the issue of all the other names written in capitalized letters (I mean, this can be solved if Caps Lock is used for the name of the player, but than it would look really strange in all the dialogue trees- maybe write all the names in the same style?), however, with respect to tutorial type descriptors, font size is a big problem

Well, for Dark Vortex you get an attack that can allow the Hero to strike the enemy down even if cornered, it costs less (and those 2PsP points can make quite a difference), hits the same number of tiles, allows the Hero to attack unit formations from any side of the map with ease. (Say, if the enemy comes up too close, and the Hero is located on the side of a map, then the enemy will be out of Light Bomb range- great example is Dean Lucas from TRPG2 battle.) Also, the attack deals more damage on the same level.


About Pyro Hail I do agree completely, though. I am hard pressed to find any advatantages to it that one cannot find in better form with all the other attacks. After all, if, for instance, you want more reach, than it's better than Cryo Cross, but it costs almost the same, yet hits only 5 tiles to Cryo Cross' 12. Better go for Dark Vortex then, with 4 PsP more cost, it covers 9 tiles and can damage many more combinations of enemy formations. And if you want to go cheap, then Dark Vortex may be too expensive, but Cryo Cross costs only 1 PsP more and covers more than twice the area! Either way, there is always a better alternative, in my opinion.

Here is a challenge: can anyone come up with a very good reason or a good battlefield situation where Pyro Hail can be often and frequently used in prefernce to the other 3 attacks?
I really think that Pyro Hail is in a transient class of it's own: it's more advanced than the Elemental Breaths, but it's lower class than the other 3 elemental area attacks. The Heat equivalent would be Fire Gate, which has range exactly between Dark Vortex and Light Bomb.

I believe though that the Nameless One referred to obfuscation as something quite commonplace, done by all sides, so Shadowling captivity is hardly a requirement for knowing how to use obfuscation.

I hope everyone realizes this whole 'theory' is just a summary of bees' hives.
If you look at how im2smart4u's post begins, anyone reading it thoroughly, even if they were not aware of how bee hives function, would realize that this is what he's talking about.

The Void Bug doesn't contradict the theory, Zackirus,  since the Shadow Bug stage comes after the Nymph stage. All it simply does is form an "elite" Shadow Bug class, (e.g. like Ravinale Elite) which is called upon to solve problems which don't crop up daily and which the Shadow Bugs ahve more trouble dealing with. Protecting the Queen can be just one of many uses for them.

Ok, here is a small AI improvement that can be made for the Lesser Ghost: as indicated on the image, the ghost was on the red tile, it could've easily backstabbed Arman (green path), but instead it went for a side-attack (red path), methinks the AI could be more powerful, if it would go for back-stabbing more often

-when the Hero is removed from the active teammate list and one re-enters the main in-game menu, the warning triangle flashes, telling the player that the Hero isn't on the active team, but with the new GUI, the triangle appears somewhere between two sub-menu headings, and crosses onto the borderline a bit

I would be very surprised to see someone choosing Anya over Festus.

Looking at the two advantages give to Anya:
1). Long Shield, well, with Festus' ability to float over water and other obstacles, and his higher mobility, he can effectively use Big Shield in place of Long Shield (from a side) to heal the same amount of people, and he has the same reach, if Anya and he start from the same position, and Anya uses Long Shield- he'll simply move more, and use less penetrating shield, thus, overall, Long Shield would very rarely give Anya better battlefield coverage (the only map I can think of where that might come true is the Psy Academy first battle, but Anya does not participate in it)
2). Light Resistance, as Zackirus rightly put it, it can be used only against Tastidian and Nelis, or against Energy Golems in the Nelis battle, 'cause I very much doubt someone will invest so much gold early on in the game to give Anya level 16 Defense before mission 3 begins.
3). I actually find the Mind Shield 2 rather annoying: this means that in cramped quarters, Anya is unable to use little PsP on a normal Shield to heal a teammate- and using Mega Shield early-to-mid game can be quite wasteful. And towards the end, she learns Long Shield, so her cheapest Shield attack is 5 PsP, whilst Festus' is 3 PsP. Thus, he can conserve more PsP.

Going for Festus bonuses:
1). As quite rightly noted by Zackirus, under equal leveling up, Festus has slightly higher stats, for both hismelf and the attacks.
2). His mobility is superior in all aspects.
3). His resistance proves very useful against both the most potent enemies in mission 6 (and he isn't slowed down, unlike Anya, in the hard battle against Cerzak) and against practically all enemies in mission 7 against Somnus

And, again, as Zackirus put above, Anya is useful when you want a second Healer, and don't want the Main equipped with the Indigo orb.
