I spent some time yesterday scripting the skeleton of a system for recruiting generic characters that you can integrate into your own single player campaigns.

It's playable but not especially interesting as a campaign just yet, so I'm posting it here for anyone that wants to use it as the foundation for a proper single player campaign. Unzip it to C: > Documents > My Games> Telepath Tactics > User Campaigns and edit / extend it to your heart's content. :)

How about a small variant of this campaign where instead of this, you simply get filler units if you have less characters than you can deploy, like in FE: Shadow Dragon.

If I had the creative energy to write a legitimate story, I would totally hi-jack the concept.  Maybe I'll attempt to remake TPA2 using this process, after I start remaking TPA1 (for the third or fourth time now) and finally finish it.  Maybe start scaling enemies' level based on the highest level character in the player's army, instead of hard-setting it.  It's definitely an interesting setup, to be sure.

-EDIT:Also, there's a typo in the "Support" branch of the Recruiter dialog tree.  "Suppot" instead of "Support".-

Updated with a built-in shop system that sells a random selection of items each time you visit in anticipation of version 1.031. (It won't work with game versions 1.03 or earlier.)

I thought this would make a great Psy Arena 3. Like Psy Arena 1, one could collect user made maps (like these) to make a series of increasingly difficult battles.  With this system, it would make it easier to recruit random teammates like Psy Arena 2.  When more user submitted maps are submitted, I might try to create a similar campaign to Psy Arena 2.
