The purpose of this thread is to explain some ways to post special stuff around here.

I'll start by answering a couple of questions.

this would go under General Discussion more than TRPG2, but this is where it got moved, so here goes
-How do I put two or more quotes in a post
-What is a sticky thread/topic

To have two quotes in the same post, the easiest way is to press "quote" next to the 1st message you want to quote, and then press "quote" in the second message you want to quote.
You'll get something like:
-How do I put two or more quotes in a post
Some text in between.

A [sticky topic is a] topic that isn't moved down the page as other topics get posted in--it remains "stuck" at the top of the page.

The sticky topic was already explained, so I quoted the explanation. ;)
An advice for everyone: use the search function when you need an answer. The search function is on the upper left corner of every page and on the upper right corner of every page. You'll often find the answer faster by searching than waiting for someone to read your question to it and giving you a reply.

How do you insert pics into your signature?
Go to profile > Forum Profile Information > Signature
In there insert something like [ i m g  ]address.where.your.image.is[ / i m g ] (without the extra spaces), and you'll get something like
.

You may want to host your image in an external site. Since I don't usually post images, I don't know which are the good ones... you may try www.postimage.org and see if it works for you.

Try looking for a Print Screen (Prnt Scrn) button.  Then paste it into a graphic editor.  Not sure if this works for all computers.

Most people call it a screen shot
This site should help for pc
http://graphicssoft.about.com/cs/general/ht/winscreenshot.htm

For a mac here are the short cut keys i use

Shortcuts

Command-Shift-3: Take a screenshot of the screen, and save it as a file on the desktop
Command-Shift-4, then select an area: Take a screenshot of an area and save it as a file on the desktop
Command-Shift-4, then space, then click a window: Take a screenshot of a window and save it as a file on the desktop
Command-Control-Shift-3: Take a screenshot of the screen, and save it to the clipboard
Command-Control-Shift-4, then select an area: Take a screenshot of an area and save it to the clipboard
Command-Control-Shift-4, then space, then click a window: Take a screenshot of a window and save it to the clipboard
In Leopard, the following keys can be held down while selecting an area (via Command-Shift-4 or Command-Control-Shift-4):

Space, to lock the size of the selected region and instead move it when the mouse moves
Shift, to resize only one edge of the selected region
Option, to resize the selected region with its center as the anchor point

To post screenshots here, it's recogmended you post a link to a site hosting the shot. There are many sites available to upload the image for free(like I said I use photobucket.com which even gives you the links when you upload the image. but you can also directly post it in one of your posts. By pressing the "Insert Image  button"

Example of embedding an image in a post:

Now here's a neat thing to try. Making an image a link in a post

Go ahead, click it.^^

In order to put screenshots onto your desktop, take the screenshot via the <PrintScreen> button (this button has various names according to your keyboard's layout, but is typically found near <F12> and <Scroll Lock>)

Open your prefered graphics editor (Paint is standard on Windows)

Paste your screenshot in (via Control + v, <rightclick> + paste image (or just paste0, or going to <Edit> (in the menu bar at the top) <Paste>)

Save the picture to your computer, then on the file, rightclick the icon and select "make background" (or something similar) This will (usually on Windows) pop up a little dialogue box asking you if yoiu want it centered, stretched or tiled. select one and say ok and the image will appear as your desktop background.

Also, if the image is online, there is no reason to download it(typically) just right click and set "Set as Desktop Background" (or something similar if that option is not available) and it will appear there. No worries if the image is deleted from the internet as your computer (should) make a ghost copy of the image (which is normally unaccessable to the user except via the properties tab)

thanks, but i guess i worded that wrong. I took the screenshots, and have them as files on my desktop. I want to post them here so i can do the walkthrough
