Does Niven happen to be named after David Niven, a British WWII soldier who was an aspiring actor? I thought so because they were both a form of actor, Niven a performer, and David Niven would be an actor.

I don't know. I hadn't heard of David Niven. It is an interesting thought though.

Craig never mentioned any reference to real-life characters, apart from the Spriggat names. Maybe it's a coincidence- like with the Nelis airforce base?
Still, that would be amusing. How did you come across this person?
