So, are any of you folks following the Football (Soccer, that is) World Cup in South Africa?
Who do you support? Any thoughts, ideas, comments, emotions?
I wanna see the US win...
But Brazil hasn't blown up yet, so thats impossible :P
That stunk that USA lost to Ghana. in a penalty shot too. I still can't get over it, I am currently weeping onto my keybdfishf. :'(
I might care more if Canada was in...
Apparently there was some news report where there was a German squid in between a box with a German flag and a box with an English flag, and the German squid chose the German box.
WOO! GO BRAZIL! GO PORTUGAL!
Yeah, Brazil finally picked up the pace, I am currently opting for Brazil to win, if not Brazil then some other South American country. ;D
With the current selection of countries to choose from, I'll back Holland and Germany! (The former play some fluid football in general and the latter have, historically, been playing some very solid football.)
I believe Brazil will win but it would be nice if the U.S. won.
Brazil has been playing a bit sloppily lately.
Yep, they just lost to Holland 2-1. Let's see if Germany and Spain can make it through to the next stage?
Germany is winning.
Actually, in my school each class were given a country to act like and be to support in the world cup. The youngun's got all the easy ones e.g. England, USA, Spain e.t.c. But, by chance, my class got Uruguay, so, GO URUGUAY!
One of my old friends lives there, and, since brazil and portugal are out, GO URUGUAY!
Aha, Holland through to the final! Let's see if we can get Germany in there? With the way they've been playing, I think they more than deserve to be there.

I knew they would
WOOT SPAIN
A day late, but i forgot after seeing the game
that was a violent match!
I haven't watched for a while.
Ah, shame on that, but heh, Spain have been long overdue all those titles- what with the amount of talent they have, so congrats to them.
A bit unfortunate that the match had to be so aggressive.

The World Cup matches usually are, with the final match being the worst. Its easy to say from the sidelines that they are being to violent, but they are competing for what is likely to become the greatest honor they will ever recive, for them and for their home country.

What about the Olympics?
That depends on the sport- not all sports are included in the Olympics (think cricket) and not all Olympic games are considered to be pinnacles of a certain sport. Even playing for tha national team can be an addendum, but not quite as prestigious as winning a local tournament- e.g. in tennis it's the Grand Slams which count, an olympic gold is nice, but it's barely talked about, only as a thing for "completion" in a way, and David Cup is considered a patriotic thing to do, but doesn't cause that much hype amongst the elite of tennis players, usually (at least, not these days).
