Should there be achiements in TSoG? Discuss.
I voted no, because achievements tend to be spoilers( unless they're secret ones) but then when you have a certain number of achievements and can't get the other secret ones it's frustrating. Also, it doesn't fit with the game style.
Achievements as in: beating certain bosses, collecting a certain amount of gold, or finding all the orbs, or getting your main up to level 10, 20, 30 then it would have to depend. Achievements can be both storyline and sidequestline driven. I would agree that story wise that achievements in a Telepath Game would not be suited, but it if didn't have any relation to the story (maybe finding a certain NPC) then it would be fine for myself.
I think that there should be secrets in TSOG. By extension, I would like a certain amount of recognition for finding them. Therefore, yes I would like achievements.
Honestly, I don't think TSoG needs achievements as such- it has been a recent ternds in practically all games to include them, but in case of TSoG, if the achievements are to be somehow included, then I'd like to see them as part of the in-game universe, otherwise they're quite pointless- folks would know if they've collected all the orbs, which already has some satisfaction value in itself, as that has direct use in-game.
Maybe acheivements like finding easter eggs, collecting all treasure chests, something that encourages you to explore, rather than fighting for Achmed 50 times.
No. It just doesn´t seem to be right.
Unless this game is for the X-BOX 360 or is put on newgrounds, I don't see the need for achievements. Collecting gold and orbs should be rewards in and of themselves.
Is this topic dead?
I support the idea of achievements-in fact I wanted to suggest it until I saw this.
I like the idea, but only if it goes along the lines of here's an achievement, you beat the final boss, good for you, now keep playing or read a book or something, nothing special, move on with your life now etc. in other words, only if they're there just for fun and nothing else happens, I don't see the harm, and it would be nice to get a little virtual trophy for beating the final boss.
