TSoG / Re: How much time is between TRPG2 and TSoG?
February 20, 2012, 06:31:36 AM
Yes, Helena actually looks younger than Anya, which is odd because she was older in TRPG2, I believe (I assumed low twenties at the youngest).

I would assume 50 years. People do mention that it's been "decades" since the end of the Shadow War.

What's odd is that the shadowlings haven't aged at all, though, not even Festus, who seemed to be the oldest. (I assume that blue = middle-aged?) I guess they must have longer lifespans than we thought...

TSoG / Re: Favoriate four orbs

The resistance orbs are definitely situational, though they can be very useful. The crystal orb is the exception, though, since so many enemies use physical attacks, so I usually have that equipped by default (...and also because it can't be removed due to a bug). Duvalier is a frail, pathetic thing (no natural health bonus), so he needs the Blood Orb to have any degree of survivability, especially since enemies target him specifically. I chose the yellow orb over the violet one, because I found that, despite the extra 15 PsP, Duvalier's attacks are just so energy-consuming that I quickly run out anyway. The yellow orb allows him to quickly regenerate PsP without needing Luca (who can use Transfer on someone else, such as Set), which I find is more valuable than just a bigger pool. I round it out with the azure orb, because as this poll shows, everyone loves the azure orb. I don't use the green orb, though, because I already got Arman to increase Duvalier's speed. I generally find that 6 speed is good enough in most circumstances.

Oh, and I'm also having the disappearing crystal orb problem. If I unequip it it disappears, I guess because there's no room for it in the 4x4 orb grid? This is problematic, because it means I can't get the blue orb.

Edit: Ah, nevermind, seems like it wasn't the speech that gave Duvalier the +4 Personality. So that's what the opal orb does, I was wondering about that.

Okay, I think this is a bug: After Duvalier gave the speech in Ravinale, he got a +4 Personality bonus. After completing Crypt 4, however, that bonus has disappeared -- it's reverted back to 14.

Ah, thank you very much, that helps. Pity, it looks like I was really close to the exit on my first excursion.

TSoG Walkthroughs / Crypt 4
February 19, 2012, 06:07:19 AM
I'm really lost. D:

Is there supposed to be any pattern to what you're doing? Is there a specific place I'm supposed to be heading? I've been going northwest for a while now, and I think I hit the edge when I got the black orb at 28N, but other than that I have no idea where I'm supposed to be going. I assumed north just on principle, but that led me to a dead end, so...? I'm currently trying to go all the way west, I'm not sure how successful that will be.

Is the cache of books closer to the center, and I'm wasting time by looking at the fringes?

-Ok. I read on the telepath rpg Wiki. Helenite Base is suppose to appear after I finish crypt 3. But it hasn't and it only appeared after I finish the Festus missions. It also says on wiki that she will sell troops to me only after I complete her request of fetching plans from the Mechanics Forest Workshop.
This did not happen at all. She automatically sells me troops before I do her mission.

The base doesn't unlock automatically; you need to go to Baz's cellar and read the pile of books from Crypt 3.

Chocobo_Fan, it sounds like you're playing an old version of the game. I'd suggest backing up your saved games, uninstalling, then downloading and installing the newest version of the game.

That's what I thought too, but I have version 1.810, activated and everything...

And, uh, how do I back up save games again? I don't think the previous trick for the .sol files works anymore, I did a search and nothing came up.

Edit: Ah, nevermind, I was using an old version somehow. The new one is definitely different. My savegames got eaten in the transition though, so I'll have to replay the intro to get back to the point I was before to confirm if the bugs are really gone or not.

Edit 2: Okay, the previous bugs are eliminated in the new version, but I found a new one: After completing Crypt 1, I'm teleported inside a wall in the library.

Edit 3: Also, the Blood Orb has magically disappeared from my inventory. Can I still get it back?

Edit 4: I also recruited Alissa, but she isn't at the hideout and no one seems to talk about her. The wiki says Rahel has some interaction with her, but all I can talk to her about is the usual stuff.

I encountered a weird bug -- when I try to move into east Ravinale, it seems to take me to the intro scene. Malekhin is standing on the podium surrounded by guards, there's a crowd and everything...but nothing happens, the game just hangs.

Also, some shadowlings in Somnus still say "I'm afraid I don't have dialog yet. Try another house." It also seems that the palace still can't be accessed.

TSoG / Re: Speculation On The Last Acolyte
February 10, 2012, 05:44:01 PM
Oh so this thread isn't dead yet?

In that case, I'd guess that Hakim is cold, and this new acolyte is light. Someone mentioned that Hakim is supposed to be a judge -- I think this would fit better with cold than with light. A judge is focused on evaluating the here and now, not in looking to the past or future. His spectacles and "scholarly" look give him the appearance of someone who prefers distance and rationality in making decisions, and I think a cold judge would be fitting indeed for the game's narrative.

Zackirus mentioned that the unknown, shall we call him, looks a bit like a politician of some sort. I think that if he is supposed to be some kind of high-ranking governor, it would make sense for him to be light. Regardless of what people may -- justifiably -- say about politicians being corrupt and only in it for themselves, by definition, they have to look towards the future. Some look farther than others, but all have to plan ahead and think about the future consequences of their actions. So I think light fits this mystery man better than cold.

Apologies for necroposting, but, Luca. I tried both options for science, and I felt horrible when I saw how she had changed after the evil option. The fact that it appears to be permanent just makes it worse. The thought of being able to completely invert someone's personality with a few words is terrifying to me.

TSoG Wish List / Re: Somnus Wishlist
November 06, 2010, 12:14:17 PM
Hm. Interesting ideas.

I'm not that much of a speculator usually -- I prefer to just wait for the developer to create whatever he originally planned instead of directly influencing anything -- but I would like to see some of the shadowlings from TRPG2. In game series like this where the game is set in the same universe but within the lifetime of characters from the previous chapter, I always enjoy seeing the old characters for some reason. Gives a bit more resolution to their character, I suppose.

So yeah, I second the ideas of being able to meet Niven, Shadowboxer, Darkling, and Festus.

Harvester / Re: Has anybody else played Harvester?

I don't know. You could try going through every soul by trial and error. Maybe the Lover or something like a Psychiatrist, if there is one?

There's actually something about this on Telepath RPG's Wild Mass Guessing Page on TV Tropes.

I'm also of the opinion that he's the main character from the first Telepath RPG. Seems to make the most sense, but Craig will probably make him something completely unexpected anyway.
