Duskling is Pres for assuming that I made an assumption, which I did not. he told us he was Canadian on the first Canada thread.

Maybe if someone created an AI that could distinguish thought provoking comments from pointless dither...

Maybe then, it could tirelessly rate comments on their worth.

But for now that's practically impossible, so we're pretty much stuck without a reasonable way to fairly rate comments, so I agree with KZ. (sucking up might have something to do with it too)
Ah, but the person that wrote the program would be undoubtedly biased in formulating it, therefore the AI would be biased as well.
As for suck-ups... eh who needs them. Complements are nice every now and then though lol. And, KZ, you're looking rather spiffy today, wot!

I object, as one can only call himself Mandalore if he has Mandalore's helm. and I have it.

omg... lmao... glad I'm back. you guys are hilarious. Never thought this would go on for so long, and kudos go to Steelfist. Total presentiment humor, while claiming others are Pres, very nice.^^

Zackirus is Pres because a lover of Canada is a great Alias for somebody who seemed to dislike Canada so much. and, must I point out, Zack and Pres are both dun dun dun CANADIAN!

Yes, randomly generating followable paths... pretty difficult, unless it simply uses pre-generated maps with randomly generated actors (the NPCs and the PCs) That's do-able.. in fact if the Arena's coding isn't so different... that's a ton of premade maps right there...

What about starwars. They went forwards and backwards through time in creating their stories all the time. (KOTOR? and other similar appearances?)

Also Mechquest= Pre-Dragonfable= Pre-Battleon
though they were made as Battleon > Dragonfable > Mechquest.
There are tons of games with prequels and such.

I think there's room for a game or two. Actually, two spin off games, one for each of the choices. TSOG appears so far in the future that it doesn't matter what happened in TRPG2. History repeats itself, the repeated rise and fall of heroes and Tyrants stains our own history.

There's never any confirmation about stuff like this, only speculation. Unless of course, the divine creator and master, Craig Stern, decides to use his powers of divine intervention to enlighten his devout followers.^^
Totally not kissing up -----^

Yes but Nelis' control of light based attacks comes from the amount of psy power dwelling inside of her.

lol yes, because there are often hidden key commands, that are very usefull. Most of these are typically left out because it can be too confusing for new players.

It's not really... I'd write up a bunch of VB code to show you... I was just wondering if it'd be too much script to put into a flash game (trying to keep lag down) as that would mean it'd have to run about 9-10 more lines of script than it does now for every attack, also it could be implemented into the enemy's health system...

General Discussion / Re: Defining an RPG
July 03, 2010, 12:26:54 AM
Yeah... Taking Turns typically says it's a turn-by-turn game (uh durr?)
RPG, as people have stated, means a Role-Playing game, in such, it means any game where you have a choice of character or gameplay, and this much be a distinguished feature of the game. Halo(campaign) is not a roleplaying game, as you must be a character, and the only customization is found in the weapons you use.
Pokemon is a roleplaying game. Even though you can't change your character, and have a limited choice on what you do, you can decide your team and their attacks, which is the defining feature of Pokemon (the Pokemon, again, pretty obvious) While Pokemon is turn-by-turn it is not the defining feature.
And even in the begining Final Fantassy's they got out of common turn by turn by giving speed bars to players, which changes the order by "turn" consistantly, turning the battle system into a "Real-time" game.

The idea that RPG's are defined by a "turn-by-turn" battle system, is, absolutely, ridiculously ludicrous. I don't think that E3, IGN, Gameinformers and the like would give awards saying "Greatest RPG of the Year" away to a non-rpg game. After all, they're the experts on games. Nuff said.

Oy, you can't ban me for that! I ban Duskling for his inappropriate banning.
After all, seeing as we're in the 50s of pages I think Duskling has probably been banned about 500times.
