Quote from: mikew781 on April 24, 2010, 05:36:31 PMJews DID tend to be money-grubbers due to their place as bankers in many nations. This position was beause most religons at the time, especially Christianity, had the idea that handling money was a sin. Thus, they usually had the Jews (who had no problem with it) or servants take jobs involving money.

Hold on a second. You are correct that usury was oftentimes left to European jews during the Middle Ages, but money grubber is a term with serious negative connotations, ones which really aren't justified by the facts you're presenting. History isn't destiny, and heritage isn't identity. Just because some Jews were left to become bankers centuries ago, that does not mean that modern-day Jews are bankers, much less obsessed with money.

I would like to remind everyone to steer clear of promulgating racial stereotypes on these boards. That is something I absolutely will not tolerate here.

Try it now. :)

I can't think of any characters that need to sound demonic, truth be told. I appreciate the offer, though. :)

As for hero gender: the TRPG hero is gender neutral, and Duvalier is male. (The bar scene in TRPG1, where the hero "plays along," can mean 1) a male playing along, pretending to be female, or 2) a female playing along, pretending to be interested in the guardsman.)

They create a sentient supercomputer that wipes out the human race, except for 5 people: -5.

New total: 105.

I continue working on Somnus.

I had fun developing the system for randomly generating unique battles in TSoG. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't quite the hair-pulling experience that figuring out some of these other systems was. :)

Random Projects / TV Tropes: Telepath RPG
April 25, 2010, 09:49:46 AM
Enterprising forums member Chocobo_Fan has created a TV tropes entry for Telepath RPG. Says Chocobo_Fan:

QuoteSorry it doesn't have very many tropes at the moment, but since it's a wiki it's sure to expand.

Wanna add? Go for it!

The current plan is to have most major plot-related dialog read aloud as you go through the game, both inside and outside of cut scenes, as well as some optional character dialog. (But of course, that's subject to change if it turns out to be too difficult to implement that way.)

I have a couple of actors cast already--one for Arman, another for Malis. (Fun fact: the actress voicing Malis also does the operatic singing in On Trial!) :)

I'm not sure. I put in some damage formulas myself--someone else might have guessed incorrectly at the rest. Some of those I know I've changed since I put them up. So it could be both.

If I'm not mistaken, he's in the middle of final exams right now. He'll probably show back up in the next week or two.

It isn't in the game yet--you'll just have to use your imagination for now. :)

Quote from: Steelfist on April 20, 2010, 11:29:02 AMI wonder if Craig knew that when he began designing the game, or simply took it from the hundreds of books that have used the name yawah as the name of a god, for their story.

The former. :)

It's a distinct possibility. :)
