As for whether you should be going out of your way to shoot animals, well, that's another matter.
Ya know, I actually decided to go with the Marlin 795 (597 backwards. Whaaaaat?) because it is a pound lighter, 20 bucks cheaper, and has no waiting period. As in I walk into Gander Mt. and leave with it.
