Who do you support? Any thoughts, ideas, comments, emotions?

Hah, I actually returned just in time to see off WD2, so here we come with World Domination 3, same rules apply!

Amusingly and fittingly USA will be the big donor these days!

"Ok, folks, time for the second edition of this game: you can find the rules in the first edition right here!

Now, to keep things interesting and to try to ensure that it's not as easy to identify with any given country ('cause you're from it, for instance), I'll try to list the not-so-obvious countries who'll rule the world, here we go: "

Ghana: 10
Albania: 10
Costa Rica: 10
Solomon Islands: 10
Nepal: 10
Chad: 10
Estonia: 10
Peru: 10
East Timor: 10
Turkmenistan: 10
Burkina-Faso: 10
Malta: 10
Tonga: 10
Quatar: 10
USA: 100

Behold the rising superpowrs of the world! Which one will rule them all? Post and find out!

Forum Games / World Domination Country-fact

Not sure how you'll all be interested in this, folks, but seeing as many of you probably don't know much about the countries listed in World Domination 2, how about we go for a "game" of trying to find some interesting facts about each of those countries?
Rules are simple: one fact for one country in one post.

So, let's start with something very general: Vanuatu is an archipelago situated not far from Fiji in the Pacific Ocean.

General Discussion / Ban list

I would like to inform you folks that "Presentiment" has had the unimpressive achievement of being the first user ever (excluding spam-bots), that is to say, in almost 3 years spanning hundreds of active users, to be banned from accessing these forums.
His deteriorating behaviour, with continuous, purposeful and numerous breaches of the forum rules, including hate speech, flaming, spamming, pointedly being off-topic, using improper grammar and no punctuation and generally doing his best to annoy other active forum members, as well as making newcomers feel unwelcome has lead to a negative impact on the forums atmosphere and overall experience of forum users. Therefore, he will no longer be with us, anatgonizing this community. If you'd like to know what not to do, have a look at some of his recent posts (can be accessed via his profile), though some of the worst has been deleted (including hate speech and very inappropriate reception of newcomers to the forums). We're a small, but friendly and welcoming community, and such behaviour will not be tolerated here.
That isn't to say that you should be afraid to tip-toe around the rules and be in state of perpetual fear, "reasonable" is definitely a word that you should apply to all the rules and any given situation- as long as you're not purposefully trying to disrupt the workings of the forums or trying your best to be a nuisance for the community, I highly doubt you'll follow in his footsteps. (And in any case, I always give a heads-up, in case you're not aware of comme-il-faut.)

So, just ignore his latest comments, if you find them inappropriate or provocative in some way, and let's get on with some quality posting! :)

TSoG Wish List / New Tiles for Map Editor
« on: March 28, 2010, 07:08:32 AM »
Been a while, but as I've been tinkering around with maps a little bit lately, I found that there are a few things here and there which might be very well worth adding.
For instance, the grass tileset is the most complete and can create the most beautiful maps, yet there is a tile that could certainly make it for a truly complete set and allow for much more variety (I know time is pressing, but methinks it would be worthwhile, as the grass set can really give the most interesting combinations now):

The one on the left is the major one, but having the one on the right, but with grass spots on diagonally opposite corners of the tile would really be the icing on the cake and make the grass-sand transition the most complete in the map editor.

Politics / China, Google and Internet censorship
« on: March 23, 2010, 01:14:54 PM »
In light of recent events made public by Google and the Chinese government, given how the choices made about filtering content in the search engine for mainland China users has been, apparently, suspended by Google, ostensibly making a principle stand, what are your thoughts on this sitation in particular, and Internet censorship in general (or other examples, like Australians thinking of introducing similar censorpship to the Chinese, effetcively targeting child pornography and aggresively radical view propagation websites)?

TSoG Wish List / Wraith's Inhabit attack
« on: March 21, 2010, 11:29:33 AM »
Just curious, coming from the "new enemy ideas" tread, here is my suggestion for an unusually strong Greater Ghost, which can ihnabit teammates if their health is too low.
The general stats are:

Health: 90
Speed: 3
Attacks: Mind Blast (Range: 1, Damage: 16), Cryo Blast (Range: 2, Damage: 19), Cryo Cross (Range: 1-2 Omnidirectional (Diamond shape), Damage: 13), Inhabit (Range: 1; Damage: none*)
Immunity: Physical
Resistance: Cold
*Inhabit can only work if the target's hp is equal to, or less than X, works by the Wraith taking the host body, extracting the host soul, then restoring the new body to full hp.

What do you think the limiting X should be for Inhabit to work: my initial suggestion of 6 might be too little- if the boss comes late in the game, then most teammates will have health in the 60s,possibly more, so the boss will have little chance to use the attack. But then if the bar is raised too high, too much damage to any teammate will make this one very difficult fight indeed!
So, post your thoughts on what the maxmimum health of a teammate should be before the Wraith can attack them with Inhabit.
My new suggestion is 11 hp.

TSoG Wish List / New attack icons
« on: March 19, 2010, 06:00:02 PM »
I was wondering, folks, just how many of you like the new icons, and how many of you prefer the old attack icons?
It's just that I personally find the new icons very unappealing, and all looking rather similar (like the Mega Shield one looks like something I'd expect a Light Blast to look like).
The only two icons I actually like from the new set are the Big Shield and Solid State Shield ones.

I don't know, but it definitely would be interesting to see how the old attack icons look like with the new GUI, 'cause right now they're just too similar-looking and, well, just the way they are collated together looks, to me, unattractive.

TSoG / Who is your favourite teammate?
« on: March 19, 2010, 05:03:59 PM »
To go along with a similar thread on the old forums (where things were pretty evenly split) and to compliment a similar thread in TRPG2, tell us here who your favourite teammate in TSoG is, and why?
(Granted, the game isn't finished yet, but do share what your initial impressions are!)

TPA2 / What are your favourite teammate combinations?
« on: March 19, 2010, 05:02:16 PM »
TPA2 is quite versatile in allowing you to choose which teammate combinations to play the game through with. I have, so far, managed to complete the game with several very different team make-ups, and each has its ups-and-downs, but allows to place accent on completely different battles and keep the game relatively fresh.

Thus, what do you usually go for?
I have tried the lucrative combination of going for  4 Psy Fighters with different elemental affinities, backed up by a spirit, a healer, a Shadowling and a Spriggat, if memory serves me right. Pretty good and mobil combination, though initially it'a bit hard to keep the Psy Fighters alive and well, not until they get Feedback, at least. Then things go much better, with the non-humans providing the estra mobility which the main force might lack.

Then I've tried the all-different combination, omitting the Swordsman from initial make-up, and not trading in any of the teammates for more powerful classes, which are unlocked later on in the game. This allows to tackle more or less any map with different teammates being the pinnacles of attack.

Finally, there was the all-Spriggat and all-Shadowling, plus Hero and Healer team, which was very mobile indeed. The only problems were to create it in the first place (the Shadowlings and Spriggats aren't available straight away), and then it was not as advantageous when the team was pitted against Shadowlings or Spriggats, as they had elemental resistances in place.

There was an experiment with an all non-Psy team, but it wasn't too good, as none of the units were too mobile, none could fly, and they were pretty bad against spirit enemies (plus, some maps couldn't be finished with them: like ones where there was a unit with Physical resistance).
