Demo not installing on Ubuntu

While this installs and works flawlessly on Fedora, attempting to install on Ubuntu 12.04 gives me an error #1 for my troubles. The following bit of the Install.log seems relevant http://pastebin.com/TifvFVGM . What am I doing wrong?

Hm. It's an exit code 7 error, but not one of the ones listed here.

The error log mentions a pre-dependency problem, saying that the game depends upon AIR 2.6. Do you have that installed? If not, no worries: just grab it right from Adobe: http://airdownload.adobe.com/air/lin/download/2.6/AdobeAIRInstaller.bin  If you already have AIR installed, see if any of these steps help.

I may just be confused, but Adobe Air's website says that it no longer supports Linux.

Right; they stopped supporting Linux in version 2.7. Telepath Tactics deliberately uses the last version with Linux support, 2.6.

I have 2.6, yeah. And nope, the steps didn't help.
