TRPG2 / Re: Bug Theory (the creatures; not errors)
« on: February 28, 2010, 04:36:27 PM »
It doesn't make much sense that the Shadow Bugs have the responsibility to protect the colony, since they have a thinner exoskeleton and are weaker than the Nymphs. Perhaps there are Soldier Bugs as well, stronger and with thicker exoskeleton and perhaps having also psy attacks.

The problem with the Soldier Bugs theory is that we didn't saw any of them in TRPG2... perhaps we went too quickly through the tunnels and managed to skip the soldiers.

TRPG2 / Revival by Nelis
« on: February 28, 2010, 02:15:32 PM »
I would like to start a discussion about how Nelis (the Shadowling Queen form TRPG2) is able to revive our fallen comrades.
It might be interesting to think about what should be different from what Luca is able to do in TSoG.

To begin with, here are some things that I think it should be taken into account:
1. How long is that person dead;
2. What is the state of the body;
3. The way the person died;
4. Characteristics of the soul of different races.

1. Let's assume that every person of every race has a soul. If a person is dead for too long, the soul may drift away from the body (while staying in this World or going to Heaven, Hell, or somewhere else). If this is true, what does it mean too long? Is it 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 1 year, or ...?

2. Is the body (in particular the more important organs) in good shape or is the body completely destroyed? Perhaps the soul stays longer near a well preserved body. And the way the body is, is related to how easy would be to restart or reconstruct it.

3. Did the person died of old age, or a long lasting disease? Was that person expecting to die. Or did the person committed suicide or wanted to die? I'm thinking again about the connection between the soul and the body.

4. Since the races have different lifespans, does that means that the soul is more connected to their bodies? Is it easy for Nelis to revive a shadowling than a human? After all, Nelis knows way much better how a shadowling works.

So, what are your opinions about all this?

Wish granted. Now they frontfire: they get corrupted before you wish them.

I wish it was wise for me to stay around here for another hour.

The forbidden endings:
*ia, *fy, *ic, *ky, *ly, *ll, *on, *ty, *um, *us, *xo
and all the other two consonant endings that don't start a word.

The reason for the forbidden endings is the low number of words you can start with them. The impossibilities aren't listed because they are too many!

I like this game. Unfortunately I'm short on time, so I may only be able to come here a couple of times a month, so feel free to kick me out or give me a secondary role.

I picked my description from the old forums, if you don't mind.

Name: Ert
Race: Red Spriggat
Attacks: Mind blast and Fire Breath 1 & 2 (probably it will make more sense if I start with only Fire Breath 1). He's trying to develop "wall of fire": a localized set of flames kept in one place with his psy abilities and not transposable without getting severe burns (think about Set's static shield). Ert can't maintain it for a long time (say 1 or 2 turns and it's currently at level 0).
Skills: Can fly (yes, I know it's predictable!), can craft simple jewellery (and is able to evaluate jewellery), and can burp louder than the average spriggat! :P
Stats: Psy power: 15; Psy defense: 9; Personality: 5; Aptitude: 7.
And Ert probably didn't start with any clothes.

Some bio & characteristics:
Ert is usually a nice spriggat, but a little dumb (not too much). Sometimes he misunderstands what the others are meaning and his temper fires up a bit (you know, like the regular red spriggat).
He can get along with everyone - he just hates to be alone. Everyone he meets is instantly treated as his friend.
Ert is young and he's fascinated with the stories regarding the Shadowars: mainly with all the heroes involved. His favourite hero is Grotius (don't say anything against him or Cerzak, or else!). His fascination with the historical battles was the main reason for him to visit in Somnus quite a few times.
He's strong and quick because he played fighting games with other spriggats when he was younger (I'm assuming that fire breath appears in the spriggats adolescence, but it can be the other way around). He likes to eat lots of food but he's not fat because he's always doing something. Some may find him a bit hyperactive.
He don't discriminate the shadowlings because he believes that the problems with them were mainly due to Nelis.
He's looking forward to join an adventure party where some danger is involved.

Mmm... I was wondering if mind blast and Fire Breath 2 should be already available to Ert...

Ert's chosen actions during daytime (in decreasing preference): look for adventure, train "wall of fire", attend some classes (i.e. training), and hang with friends.
Ert's actions at night (in decreasing preference): look for adventure, go to a pub with his friends, and go to sleep.

General Discussion / Re: Forum Ranks: The Official Guide
« on: February 27, 2010, 08:49:15 PM »
Post well, and one day you too can become a Savior of these forums!

TitleStar Power   Posts to Earn
Mechanic Captain   **50
Red Cape**100
Blue Cape**200
Black Cape***500
White Cape***1000
May I suggest adding a new rank at 1 post and at 20 posts? I have no solid reason, other than up to 2000 everything was looking like an exponential growth: posts=10rank/3 rounded to a single digit (followed by zeros).
So, I'm suggesting 0, 1,2,5, 10,20,50, 100,200,500, 1000,2000. From 2000 on it would take quite a long time to get 1000 posts, so I think that intervals of 1000 might be reasonable to have (I made a bit more than 1600 posts in one year on the old forums, which would mean about 3 years to reach Savior). At 1 post one could become a beggar and at 10 posts one could become a raider and mechanic would be reached at 20 posts.

Is there an easy way to distinguish posts made in forum games and posts elsewhere? And if it's possible, is it a good idea to posts in the forum games count less (perhaps 1/2) than posts elsewhere?
