This update wipes out most remaining bugs and adds a new Nightmare mode, in case Brutal isn't cutting it for you. Here's the full post about it.

It's come to my attention that there is now a page for Telepath RPG: Servants of God on the Giant Bomb games wiki, which you can check out here. Feel free to contribute edits to this so Giant Bomb users can learn more about the game!

So, this is apparently a real thing: a parasitic fungus that hijacks the mental functioning of ants.

In other news, I think I'll be steering clear of Iran for the foreseeable future.

TSoG / The Let's Play Thread!
January 01, 2012, 11:14:00 PM
I've started seeing some playthrough videos of TSoG popping up, so I figured now would be a good time to post an official thread listing all known Let's Plays of the game as they arrive.

If you find any, please post them here. (And of course, if you want to make your own, please do and post that here as well!)

UPDATE: I've just tried out XSplit, which is currently in public beta and therefore free to use without a license. It's really quite excellent; I'd recommend it to anyone looking to do a Let's Play. How to use XSplit:

1) Download the program.
2) Install it and register. Open the program.
3) Go to File > Add Screen Region.
4) Click and drag a red box over the portion of the screen you want to record.
5) Tinker with the settings (Tools > General Settings) until you get something that works well. Here are the settings I'm using:

  • General: Make XSplit a layered window (this keeps XSplit from recording itself).
  • Channels: Select LocalRecording and hit the Edit button. Make sure you're recording at the highest quality (20), with 44.1 kbps audio and a bitrate of 96000. Otherwise, leave it at the default.
6) Go over to the View drop-down and select a resolution (suggested: 800 x 600 or higher, with a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio) and frame rate (suggested: 30 fps or 60 fps).
7) To start recording, go to the Broadcast drop-down and click Local recording. It will begin recording an flv, showing whatever is beneath XSplit. Obviously, you'll want that to be the game window.
8) Tab over to the game window and start playing! When you want to stop recording, open up XSplit again and click Local recording once more; the recording will stop and there will be an flv file saved in your Videos folder under "XSplit Recordings."

TSoG / RPS features TSoG!
November 07, 2011, 02:52:04 PM
So, one of my favorite websites just ran a story on Telepath RPG: Servants of God, in which they give their early impressions of the demo.

QuoteBrain-Bending Bishops' combat isn't immediately gripping, with early battles acting as tutorials with no variety or threat. There's depth in there though and a sense that the scenarios are so finely balanced as to be more like a puzzle than a tactical field of play.

The world isn't another take on Tolkien, with a Middle Eastern flavour that really ruins my bishop references but laces through the steampunk filling rather well. Be warned though – there's a lot of text even at the early stages, introducing characters and concepts at a fair old pace. Like I said earlier, I should be in my element: turn-based combat and a new world to explore with no goblins or rats in sight.

Check it out.

TSoG / Updating TSoG
November 04, 2011, 08:45:11 AM
Telepath RPG: Servants of God does not auto-update.

To update the game, download the latest version of the game's installer, then run it. It'll say "preparing to install," then ask you if you want to replace the current install. Click Replace. It'll update the game, but keep your saved games and such.

Tim Sweeney from Epic Games showed off Unreal Tournament 3 running in the newest version of Flash Player at the Adobe Max convention yesterday:

Another video showing slightly less amazing, but still pretty amazing 3D performance in Flash:

TSoG / Installing and Running TSoG
August 15, 2011, 06:41:39 AM
To install the game:

  • first download and install Adobe AIR. (If the installer tells you that you already have Adobe AIR, you can skip this step.)
  • second, download and run the game's installer, Telepath RPG Servants of God.air

That's it for installation. You're done.

  • once installation is completed, you should have a new folder called Telepath RPG Servants of God--if you're in Windows, this will almost always be in C:\Program Files (x86)
  • in Windows, you can run the program by selecting it from the Start Menu or by double-clicking Telepath RPG Servants of God.exe inside the program's folder

TSoG Bugs / Beta Bug-Busting Team!
July 13, 2011, 07:57:22 PM
Soon, I'll have need of some folks to test the new AIR build so I can be assured that it's relatively bug-free before I release it on the general public.

Do you want to help me get the next release of TSoG in fighting shape? If so, post here and let me know. (Your help will be appreciated even if you haven't pre-ordered.)

Telepath Tactics (2015) / About Telepath Tactics
May 29, 2011, 05:28:47 PM
Telepath Tactics is a turn-based tactical RPG with destructible environments; the ability to build bridges and barricades during battle; and 23 unit classes with distinct strengths, weaknesses and abilities that shape their role on the battlefield. It features a story-driven single player campaign, mod support, and a hotseat local multiplayer mode that supports up to 6 players at a time.

The game features a completely new engine written from-the-ground-up in Flash. It features an intuitive mouse-driven interface and a million little wish list items accumulated from previous games:

--battlefields can be any size
--click on a character to see every space it can move to, then click a space and it will walk to it automatically
--see every attack's element and base damage before you attack
--each unit has multiple elemental strengths (and weaknesses)
--use the engineer to build battlefield objects (like bridges and barricades) in unlimited quantities, or place explosive charges to take down walls
--plague your foes with status effects like Burning, Poisoned, Frozen and Blind
--push, pull and even throw enemies into water or lava
--attacks now support variable ranges and variable damage at range
--there is an incredibly awesome map editor with intuitive "painting," multiple layers, map panning, zoom, and unlimited undo/redo

There's a million more things to say about this game, but I'll leave it at that for now. Finishing TSoG is top priority for the time being. That said, you You can look forward to playing TT after it releases on April 16th.

TRPG2 / This game is about Barbies, Part 2
May 02, 2011, 08:17:25 PM
We already knew that TRPG2 is a game about Barbie dolls. But did you know that it is also the Best Girl Game as well?

http://www.bestgirlgame.com/Telepath-RPG-2-5389.html

What can I say? I am truly honored to have TRPG2 nestled among such timeless classics as Kiss Zac Efron and Sweet Heart Dressup.
